Group Facilitators
The Coping With the Loss of Your Pet Group is a professionally facilitated gathering that provides education about coping with loss and emotional support. Sessions encourage participants to pay tribute to their pets and provide support to each other by sharing their stories. Animal companions who share our homes are often cherished family members. When a companion animal dies, disappears, or is given away the grief may be difficult to handle. One way to cope is by being with other others who are grieving a similar loss. Participants are encouraged to bring a picture or other memento of their pet.
The group's facilitators have created an on-line Facebook community for those who wish to pay tribute to their departed animal companions and support each other. Found at facebook.com/home.php#!/group.php?gid=166532380028244 the site recognizes that sorrow is a normal and natural reaction to the loss of a cherished animal companion and gives individuals a place where they can share their emotions about the loss of their animal companion.
