Aid to Victims of Violence provides comprehensive services to adult and child victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and other crimes, including:
  • accompanying victims to the police station, hospital, the YWCA safe dwelling, Department of Social Services, court and other locations as needed
  • informing victims of their rights and legal options and help applying for crime victims compensation
  • over-the-phone or in-person assistance to victims on providing support during a crisis and/or referrals for additional services
  • referrals to family court clerk, private attorneys, legal aid services, public defender's office or the police department for obtaining orders of protection and custody petitions
  • 24-hour confidential hotline for victims with support, intervention options and victims' rights information
  • information and programming about the cycle of violence and forms of domestic abuse and sexual assault
  • basic needs, including food and clothing, and emergency safe housing for women victims of domestic violence and their children. Male victims receive safe alternative housing
  • on-going lay counseling by advocates as victims move through the healing process
  • survivors and their families receive information and support related to domestic violence, sexual assault, healthy families, child sexual assault and other topics

Here We Grow is a NYS OCFS licensed, year round daycare center for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. The YWCA of Cortland operates the center, which is owned by the Cortland Regional Medical Center. The center operates from 6:30am to 5:30pm. It is a Cortland City School District Universal Pre-k site for eligible 4 year olds. Learning Adventure is a NYS OCFS licensed, year round daycare center for children, ages 6 weeks to 5 years. The center operates from 6:00am to 5:30pm. It is a Cortland City School District Universal Pre-k site for eligible 4 year olds. The program has five classroom divided according to age and provides breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. Drop-In is designed to provide short term care for children 6 weeks to 5 years, while the parent/guardian works out, runs errands, makes an appointment, etc.. The YWCA Drop-In Program operates from 8:30am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday, for members and non-members. By the hour care is available for up to 3 hours a day per family.

Model Moms is a free parenting program that provides support and companionship to moms of all ages. Model Moms provides a holistic approach to parenting by incorporating exercise, nutrition, food preparation, family budgeting, and good parenting techniques in a comfortable and social environment. Childcare for younger children is provided free of charge at the YWCA's Drop-In Child Care Center. Meets every Thursday from 12-2.

This licensed program for 3 to 5 year olds offers a variety of enriching experiences and activities designed to enhance your child's development and readiness for kindergarten. The curriculum is based on educational themes and has a literacy, music, science, art, dance, field trips, and more. Recreational swim and gym are also offered. A morning snack is provided. Full day children receive lunch and afternoon snack. Parents may choose from 2, 3, or 5 days a week. The program operates on the Cortland City School's calendar year, and is a Cortland City School District Universal Pre-K site for eligible 4-year olds.  Nursery School: 8:45 a.m.- 11:45 a.m. Day School 8:45 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Before School 8:00 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. Emergency Closings: If the YWCA experiences delays or closes due to emergencies or weather conditions, these radio stations will be notified: WIII 99.9 FM, MIX 101.5 FM, WKRT 920 AM
